This paper gives a characterization of Sobolev functions on the real line by means of pointwise inequalities involving finite
differences. This is also shown to apply to more general Orlicz-Sobolev, Lorentz-Sobolev, and Lorentz-Karamata-Sobolev spaces.

The higher order fractional Calderón problem for linear local operators : Uniqueness
Covi, Giovanni; Mönkkönen, Keijo; Railo, Jesse; Uhlmann, Gunther (Elsevier, 2022)We study an inverse problem for the fractional Schrödinger equation (FSE) with a local perturbation by a linear partial differential operator (PDO) of order smaller than the one of the fractional Laplacian. We show that ... -
Function spaces and pseudo-differential operators on vector bundles
Uusluoto, Veli-Pekka (2019)The objective of this Master thesis is to give coordinate-free definitions of certain concepts in modern analysis on vector bundles and to apply these tools to elliptic partial differential equations. Topics that we cover ... -
Generalized Lebesgue points for Sobolev functions
Karak, Nijjwal (Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic; Springer, 2017)In many recent articles, medians have been used as a replacement of integral averages when the function fails to be locally integrable. A point x in a metric measure space (X, d, μ) is called a generalized Lebesgue point ... -
Approximation and Quasicontinuity of Besov and Triebel–Lizorkin Functions
Heikkinen, Toni; Koskela, Pekka; Tuominen, Heli (American Mathematical Society, 2017)We show that, for 0 < s < 1, 0 < p, q < ∞, Haj lasz–Besov and Haj lasz–Triebel–Lizorkin functions can be approximated in the norm by discrete median convolutions. This allows us to show that, for these functions, the ... -
Traces of weighted function spaces : Dyadic norms and Whitney extensions
Koskela, Pekka; Soto, Tomás; Wang, Zhuang (Springer, 2017)The trace spaces of Sobolev spaces and related fractional smoothness spaces have been an active area of research since the work of Nikolskii, Aronszajn, Slobodetskii, Babich and Gagliardo among others in the 1950’s. In ...
