CRITICAL JYU is a part of a larger CRITICAL consortium focusing on critical reading development and ways to support it among children and adolescents from 10 to 17 years of age. Please see more information: https://educritical.fi/en/. In CRITICAL JYU project, we focus on the risk, protective, and promotive factors in critical reading development. Of particular interest are children's cognitive skills and motivation, as well as home environment. We also seek to develop a home literacy environment questionnaire for research purposes focusing particularly on critical reading.
The data has been collected using multiple methods and from multiple informants; e.g. using Delphi method among experts, semi-structured interviews among adolescent and their parents, questionnaires for children, adolescent, parents, and teachers, skill assessments, and video observations. The data includes videos, sound files, numerical data, and transcript data. CRITICAL JYU -aineisto on osa CRITICAL-konsortiohankkeessa kerättävää aineistokokonaisuutta. Hankkeessa selvitetään monimenetelmällisen tutkimuksen avulla 10-17-vuotiaiden lasten ja nuorten kriittisen lukutaidon kehittymistä.
