We describe the synthesis of a novel boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY)-caged amine capable of adhering to a pristine graphene surface via non-covalent bonding and demonstrate the release of the amine with green (530–540 nm) light both in solution and adhered to a graphene surface.

In solution, the constituents ... -
Studies of Nature of Uncommon Bifurcated I–I···(I–M) Metal-Involving Noncovalent Interaction in Palladium(II) and Platinum(II) Isocyanide Cocrystals
Bulatova, Margarita; Ivanov, Daniil M.; Rautiainen, J. Mikko; Kinzhalov, Mikhail A.; Truong, Khai-Nghi; Lahtinen, Manu; Haukka, Matti (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2021)Two isostructural trans-[MI2(CNXyl)2]·I2 (M = Pd or Pt; CNXyl = 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide) metallopolymeric cocrystals containing uncommon bifurcated iodine···(metal–iodide) contact were obtained. In addition to classical ... -
Preparation of graphene nanocomposites from aqueous silver nitrate using graphene oxide’s peroxidase-like and carbocatalytic properties
Garg, Kunal; Papponen, Petri; Johansson, Andreas; Puttaraksa, Nitipon; Gilbert, Leona (Nature Publishing Group, 2020)The present study evaluates the role of graphene oxide’s (GO’s) peroxidase-like and inherent/carbocatalytic properties in oxidising silver nitrate (AgNO3) to create graphene nanocomposites with silver nanoparticles (GO/Ag ... -
Noncovalent axial I∙∙∙Pt∙∙∙I interactions in platinum(II) complexes strengthen in the excited state
Bulatov, Evgeny; Eskelinen, Toni; Ivanov, Alexander Yu.; Tolstoy, Peter M.; Kalenius, Elina; Hirva, Pipsa; Haukka, Matti (Wiley, 2021)Coordination compounds of platinum(II) participate in various noncovalent axial interactions involving metal center. Weakly bound axial ligands can be electrophilic or nucleophilic; however, interactions with nucleophiles ... -
Dihypoiodites stabilised by 4-ethylpyridine through O–I–N halogen bonds
Kramer, Eric; Yu, Shilin; Ward, Jas S.; Rissanen, Kari (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2021)Four bis(O–I–N) compounds have been synthesised from various dihypoiodites and 4-ethylpyridine. The compounds were characterised in both the solution and solid states by NMR spectroscopy (1H, 15N), X-ray diffraction, and ...
