The role of knowledge management, and especially tacit knowledge management, has risen to prominence in the operations of organizations in the recent years. The recruitment market is hot, and organizations must fight hard for experts. In addition, organizations must be able to utilize the expertise of experts, in other words their tacit knowledge, to keep up with the fierce competition. According to the previous report, as much as 95 percent of an organization’s knowledge is tacit knowledge of the employees, and thus its effective use can have a great impact on the success of the organizations. Sharing tacit knowledge has previously been seen as a face-to-face activity, but the increase in remote working in recent years has created challenges to this, and as a result, organizations have had to invent new ways to share tacit knowledge. This master’s thesis aims to explore different ways to share tacit knowledge and the challenges faced with sharing with the help of the SECI model. The first part of the study deals with the hierarchy of knowledge, the management of knowledge and tacit knowledge in the form of a literature review. The empirical part of the study was carried out as a qualitative content analysis by examining grey literature, which included consultancy literature, blog posts and reports. The aim was to reflect the trends in grey literature to the SECI model and to highlight the best practices experienced by consultants. Based on the results of the study, it was possible to find challenges and several ways and tools to overcome these challenges. The biggest challenges were time-consuming problems, problems with organizational culture and the wrong location of knowledge. In turn, based on the grey literature, the effective ways of sharing tacit knowledge included mentoring, instant messaging applications, communities of practice, and intranets. Based on the conclusions, it can be stated that the activities of the organization or individuals in relation to the management of tacit knowledge act as the biggest factor enabling or limiting it.en
