Simulation is widely used for analysis of Costas loop based circuits. However it
may be a non-trivial task, because incorrect choice of integration parameters may lead to
qualitatively wrong conclusions. In this work the importance of choosing appropriate parameters
and simulation model is discussed. It is shown that hidden oscillations may not be found by simulation in SPICE, however it can be predicted by analytical methods.

A linear approach for the nonlinear distributed parameter identification problem
Tai, Xue-Cheng; Neittaanmäki, Pekka (Birkhäuser, 1991)In identifying the nonlinear distributed parameters we propose an approach, which enables us to identify the nonlinear distributed parameters by just solving linear problems. In this approach we just need to identify linear ... -
Hidden attractors in dynamical systems
Dudkowski, Dawid; Jafari, Sajad; Kapitaniak, Tomasz; Kuznetsov, Nikolay; Leonov, Gennady A.; Prasad, Awadhesh (Elsevier BV * North-Holland, 2016)Complex dynamical systems, ranging from the climate, ecosystems to financial markets and engineering applications typically have many coexisting attractors. This property of the system is called multistability. The final ... -
Hidden attractors in dynamical models of phase-locked loop circuits : limitations of simulation in MATLAB and SPICE
Kuznetsov, Nikolay; Leonov, G. A.; Yuldashev, M. V.; Yuldashev, R. V. (Elsevier, 2017)During recent years it has been shown that hidden oscillations, whose basin of attraction does not overlap with small neighborhoods of equilibria, may significantly complicate simulation of dynamical models, lead to ... -
Hidden Oscillations In The Closed-Loop Aircraft-Pilot System And Their Prevention
Andrievsky, Boris; Kravchuk, Kirill; Kuznetsov, Nikolay; Kuznetsova, Olga A.; Leonov, Gennady A. (International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), 2016)The paper is devoted to studying and prevention of a special kind of oscillations-the Pilot Involved Oscillations (PIOs) which may appear in man-machine closed-loop dynamical systems. The PIO of categories II and III are ...
