As the current nuclear PDF analyses are mainly constrained by fixed-target Drell-Yan and deeply
inelastic scattering data only the quark nuclear modifications at fairly large x values are in a good
control. Inclusive pion production in d+Au collisions at RHIC provides some constraints for
gluons but due to the limited kinematic reach of the data the gluon modifications remain uncertain
especially at small values of x. In this talk, we discuss how the existing data from p+Pb collisions
at the LHC can improve the nuclear PDF fits and which measurements would be sensitive to
the small-x gluons. In particular, we consider inclusive hadron production, compare this to direct
photons, and show estimates of the effect of CMS dijet measurements to the uncertainty of nuclear
gluon distributions.

Constraints on nuclear parton distributions from dijet photoproduction at the LHC
Guzey, Vadim; Klasen, Michael (Springer, 2019)Using QCD calculations of the cross section of inclusive dijet photoproduction in Pb–Pb ultraperipheral collisions in the LHC kinematics as pseudo-data, we study the effect of including these data using the Bayesian ... -
nPDF constraints from the large hadron electron collider
Helenius, Ilkka; Paukkunen, Hannu; Armesto, Nestor (SISSA, 2016)An updated analysis regarding the expected nuclear PDF constraints from the future Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) experiment is presented. The new study is based on a more flexible small-x parametrization which ... -
Pion–nucleus Drell–Yan data as a novel constraint for nuclear PDFs
Paakkinen, Petja; Eskola, Kari; Paukkunen, Hannu (Sissa, 2017)We have studied the prospects of using the Drell-Yan dilepton process in pion-nucleus collisions as a novel input in the global analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs). In a NLO QCD framework, we find the ... -
Constraints from hadron spectra on thermal electromagnetic emission in heavy-ion collisions at the CERN SPS
Huovinen, Pasi (1999)In this thesis the space-time evolution of matter produced in an ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collision is studied using a one-fluid hydrodynamical model. The initial state of the evolution is constrained to reproduce the ... -
New constraints for nuclear parton distribution functions from hadron–nucleus collision processes
Paakkinen, Petja (Jyväskylän yliopisto, 2019)This work studies collinearly factorizable nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) in perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) at next-to-leading order in the light of hadron–nucleus collision data which have not ...
