The finite-size effects prominent in zero-range processes exhibiting a condensation transition are studied by
using continuous-time Monte Carlo simulations. We observe that, well above the thermodynamic critical point,
both static and dynamic properties display fluidlike behavior up to a density c L, which is the finite-size
counterpart of the critical density c= c L→. We determine this density from the crossover behavior of the
average size of the largest cluster. We then show that several dynamical characteristics undergo a qualitative
change at this density. In particular, the size distribution of the largest cluster at the moment of relocation, the
persistence properties of the largest cluster, and the correlations in its motion are studied.

Many-particle theory for time-dependent quantum transport in nanostructures
Myöhänen, Petri (University of Jyväskylä, 2012)During the recent decades, molecular electronics has established its place as one of the promising fields in the nanoscience. The possibility to manufacture and control molecular junctions where single molecules are ... -
Accelerated transport and growth with symmetrized dynamics
Merikoski, Juha (American Physical Society, 2013)In this paper we consider a model of accelerated dynamics with the rules modified from those of the recently proposed [Dong et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 130602 (2012)] accelerated exclusion process (AEP) such that ... -
Many-particle approach to the image-charge effect
Tuovinen, Riku (2011)Microscopical systems of molecules and atomic chains are studied to obtain information about quantum-transport phenomena. Both exact diagonalization method through second quantization and perturbation theory approach with ... -
A Modern Approach to Transition Analysis and Process Mining with Markov Models in Education
Helske, Jouni; Helske, Satu; Saqr, Mohammed; López-Pernas, Sonsoles; Murphy, Keefe (Springer, 2024)This chapter presents an introduction to Markovian modelling for the analysis of sequence data. Contrary to the deterministic approach seen in the previous sequence analysis chapters, Markovian models are probabilistic ... -
