The purpose of this master’s thesis is to find information about the utilization of peer support between teachers in the use of educational technology. The thesis also aims to investigate the capability of peer support to increase the use of educational technology. The study was conducted using grounded theory and open interview. Although grounded theory is a data-oriented research method, and at the beginning of the study a literature review was made so that the study would be based on science. Grounded theory allows an open approach to the problem and a more in-depth understanding of the phenomenon. The subject of this study arose from the lack of research on this type of a problem setting. The usage of educational technology in Finland is not yet in such a state that it should be. The new curriculum comes into effect on 1.8.2016 and it has set goals for achieving certain information and communications technology (ICT) skills. All students should be offered the opportunity to develop ICT skills and the teaching should be done methodically. The purpose of this master’s thesis is to find information whether peer supporting would enhance the use of educational technology. According to the study it became clear, that peer support enhances the usage of educational technology. Thus a new theory was formed, that different background factors had impact on the peer supporting, which influences the actions of the teachers in the context of educational technology. Organizational category as a background factor includes education, resources, communication and leadership. Background factors enable the usage of peer supporting. The category of peer support includes the following varieties of peer supporting: training, side by side training and informal peer support. All of this influences the teachers behaviour by increasing their confidence, altering their attitude, increasing the usage of educational technologies and increasing their knowledge....
