We calculate the cross section for forward J/𝜓 production in proton-proton and minimum bias proton-lead collisions using the color glass condensate (CGC) and nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) formalism consistently with deep inelastic scattering data. The cross section for color singlet states is sensitive to a four-point correlator of Wilson lines for which we describe in the Gaussian approximation in the large-𝑁𝑐 limit. Furthermore, we quantify the importance of finite-𝑁c corrections to have a small ∼12% effect. In contrast with the generic NRQCD expectation, we show that the color singlet contribution is only 15% to the total cross section. We also compare our predictions for J/𝜓 production as well as for the nuclear modification ratio 𝑅𝑝𝑃𝑏 to LHCb and ALICE data. We find a good agreement at forward rapidities, except at low transverse momenta where the cross sections are overestimated.

Mäntysaari, Heikki; Tawabutr, Yossathorn (American Physical Society (APS), 2024)We present the first fully consistent calculation of inclusive π0 production at forward rapidities at next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy in proton-lead collisions at √s=8.16 TeV within the color glass condensate approach. ... -
Dielectron production in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
ALICE Collaboration (American Physical Society, 2020)The first measurements of dielectron production at midrapidity (|ηe| < 0.8) in proton–proton and proton–lead collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV at the LHC are presented. The dielectron cross section is measured with the ALICE ... -
Double D-meson production in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions at the LHC
Helenius, Ilkka; Paukkunen, Hannu (Elsevier BV, 2020)We consider the simultaneous production of two heavy-flavoured hadrons – particularly D mesons – at the LHC. We base our calculations on collinearly factorized QCD at next-to-leading order, using the contemporary parton ... -
Scattering Studies with Low-Energy Kaon-Proton Femtoscopy in Proton-Proton Collisions at the LHC
ALICE Collaboration (American Physical Society, 2020)The study of the strength and behavior of the antikaon-nucleon ((K) over bar N) interaction constitutes one of the key focuses of the strangeness sector in low-energy quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this Letter a unique ... -
Study of very forward energy and its correlation with particle production at midrapidity in pp and p-Pb collisions at the LHC
ALICE collaboration (Springer, 2022)The energy deposited at very forward rapidities (very forward energy) is a powerful tool for characterising proton fragmentation in pp and p-Pb collisions. The correlation of very forward energy with particle production ...
