This paper outlines the research design for creating a measuring scale to quantitatively assess individuals’ sense of place-belongingness. The development of such a measuring scale, which is currently a gap, can assist human-computer interaction researchers in assessing and refining their technology-mediated interventions for improving individuals’ place-belongingness, a key component of mental well-being. The scale encompasses factors that represent essential dimensions of place-belongingness, which are based on real-life expressions of the concept. We describe the main contributions of the proposed measuring scale and discuss potential challenges in its design and validation process.

Human digital twins in interaction design : from abstract to concrete
Saariluoma, Pertti; Myllylä, Mari; Karvonen, Antero (ACM, 2023)Human digital twins are a promising tool for designers. Digital twins have long served as models of technical and cyber-physical processes. Human digital twins take such models and add interactions with human users. Thus, ... -

Socio-emotional Experience in Human Technology Interaction Design : A Fashion Framework Proposal
Rousi, Rebekah; Alanen, Hanna-Kaisa (Springer International Publishing, 2021)Technology designers and developers can be understood as social experience (SE) mediators. In user experience (UX), notions of SE have served to identify and define the factors contributing to human-technology interaction ... -
