We study production of dark relics during reheating after the end of inflation in a system consisting of a non-minimally coupled spectator scalar field and the inflaton. We derive a set of renormalized quantum transport equations for the one-point function and the two-point function of the spectator field and solve them numerically. We find that our system can embody both tachyonic and parametric instabilities. The former is an expected result due to the non-minimal coupling, but the latter displays new features driven by a novel interplay of the two-point function with the Ricci scalar. We find that when the parametric instability driven by the two-point function takes place, it dominates the total particle production. The quantitative results are also found to be highly sensitive to the model parameters.

Non-equilibrium dynamics of a scalar field with quantum backreaction
Kainulainen, Kimmo; Koskivaara, Olli (Springer, 2021)We study the dynamical evolution of coupled one- and two-point functions of a scalar field in the 2PI framework at the Hartree approximation, including backreaction from out-of-equilibrium modes. We renormalize the 2PI ... -
Tachyonic production of dark relics : classical lattice vs. quantum 2PI in Hartree truncation
Kainulainen, Kimmo; Nurmi, Sami; Väisänen, Olli (Springer Nature, 2024)We study the out-of-equilibrium production of non-minimally coupled self-interacting scalar dark matter during reheating using classical lattice simulations. The outcomes of the classical simulations are in qualitative ... -
Open-source QCD analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions at NLO and NNLO
Walt, Marina; Helenius, Ilkka; Vogelsang, Werner (American Physical Society, 2019)We present new sets of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order. Our analyses are based on deeply inelastic scattering data with charged-lepton and neutrino ... -
Quasiparticle properties of nonequilibrium gluon plasma
Peuron, Jarkko (University of Jyväskylä, 2018)We apply classical gluodynamics to early stages of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. We start by giving a brief overview of QCD. Then we proceed to the space-time evolution of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions ... -
Spectral function for overoccupied gluodynamics from real-time lattice simulations
Boguslavski, Kirill; Kurkela, A.; Lappi, Tuomas; Peuron, Jarkko (American Physical Society, 2018)We study the spectral properties of a highly occupied non-Abelian nonequilibrium plasma appearing ubiquitously in weak coupling descriptions of QCD matter. The spectral function of this far-fromequilibrium plasma is ...
