Isotope production in light charged particle induced fission
In this thesis the production of neutron-rich isotopes in the mass region A= 96 - 120 has been studied. Their yields have been extensively studied with the IGISOL isotope separator in the 238U(p, f) reaction. Deuteron and alpha particle induced reactions have also been investigated. In connection with this work several new isotopes have been identified for the first time. Specifically, the decays of 110Tc and 112Tc are discussed. Cumulative mass distributions as well as independent isotopic distributions have been constructed. In the method used here the total kinetic energy of the fragments is integrated so that there is no energy selection and the yields are post-neutron emission values. A theoretical model described in one of the joined papers has been used to extract the preneutron emission yields. These results can be used for estimating the possibilities of production of new neutron-rich isotopes, e.g. at the IGISOL facility. In addition, they are necessary to help refining the existing fission models.
