We formulate positivity bounds for scattering amplitudes including exchange of massless particles. We generalize the standard construction through dispersion relations to include the presence of a branch cut along the real axis in the complex plane for the Maldestam variable s. In general, validity of these bounds requires the cancellation of divergences in the forward limit of the amplitude, proportional to t−1 and log(t). We show that this is possible in the case of gravitons if one assumes a Regge behavior of the amplitude at high energies below the Planck scale, as previously suggested in the literature, and that the concrete UV behavior of the amplitude is uniquely determined by the structure of IR divergences. We thus extend previous results by including a subleading logarithmic term, which we show to be universal. The bounds that we present here have the potential of constraining very general models of modified gravity and effective field theories of matter coupled to gravitation.

The 1-loop effective potential for the Standard Model in curved spacetime
Markkanen, Tommi; Nurmi, Sami; Rajantie, Arttu; Stopyra, Stephen (Springer, 2018)The renormalisation group improved Standard Model effective potential in an arbitrary curved spacetime is computed to one loop order in perturbation theory. The loop corrections are computed in the ultraviolet limit, which ... -
Scattering off the color glass condensate
Mäntysaari, Heikki (University of Jyväskylä, 2015)In this thesis the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework, which describes quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at high energy, is applied to various scat- tering processes. Higher order corrections to the CGC evolution ... -
Scattering and gluon emission in a color field : a light-front Hamiltonian approach
Li, Meijian; Lappi, Tuomas; Zhao, Xingbo (American Physical Society (APS), 2021)We develop a numerical method to nonperturbatively study scattering and gluon emission of a quark from a colored target using a light-front Hamiltonian approach. The target is described as a classical color field, as in ... -

Non-equilibrium dynamics of a scalar field with quantum backreaction
Kainulainen, Kimmo; Koskivaara, Olli (Springer, 2021)We study the dynamical evolution of coupled one- and two-point functions of a scalar field in the 2PI framework at the Hartree approximation, including backreaction from out-of-equilibrium modes. We renormalize the 2PI ...
