A complete calculation of the nuclear matrix elements (NME) for Majoron emitting neutrinoless double beta decay within the framework of IBM-2 for spectral indices n=1,3,7 is presented. By combining the results of this calculation with previously calculated phase space factors (PSF) we give predictions for expected half-lives. By comparing with experimental limits on the half-lives we set limits on the coupling constants ⟨gMee⟩ of all proposed Majoron-emitting models.

Comparative Analysis of Nuclear Matrix Elements of 0νβ+β+ Decay and Muon Capture in 106Cd
Jokiniemi, Lotta; Suhonen, Jouni; Kotila, Jenni (Frontiers Media SA, 2021)Comparative analyses of the nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) related to the 0νβ+β+ decay of 106Cd to the ground state of 106Pd and the ordinary muon capture (OMC) in 106Cd are performed. This is the first time the OMC NMEs ... -
Comparison of Microscopic Interacting Boson Model and Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation 0νββ Decay Nuclear Matrix Elements
Kotila, Jenni (Frontiers Media SA, 2021)The fundamental nature of the neutrino is presently a subject of great interest. A way to access the absolute mass scale and the fundamental nature of the neutrino is to utilize the atomic nuclei through their rare decays, ... -
Fascinating puzzle called double beta decay
Kotila, Jenni (American Institute of Physics, 2019)The question of whether neutrinos are Majorana or Dirac particles and what are their average masses remains one of the most fundamental problems in physics today. Observation of neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ) would ... -
Pinning down the strength function for ordinary muon capture on 100Mo
Jokiniemi, Lotta; Suhonen, Jouni; Ejiri, H.; Hashim, I. H. (North-Holland; Elsevier, 2019)Ordinary muon capture (OMC) on 100Mo is studied both experimentally and theoretically in order to access the weak responses in wide energy and momentum regions. The OMC populates states in 100Nb up to some 50 MeV in ... -
Ordinary muon capture studies for the matrix elements in ββ decay
Zinatulina, D.; Brudanin, V.; Egorov, V.; Petitjean, C.; Shirchenko, M.; Suhonen, Jouni; Yutlandov, I. (American Physical Society, 2019)High-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors were used to make a precise measurement of the γ-ray spectrum produced following ordinary (nonradiative) capture of negative muons by natural Se, Kr, Cd, and Sm. The measurement was ...
