We present a reciprocal space technique for the calculation of the Coulomb integral in two dimensions in
systems with reduced periodicity, i.e., finite systems, or systems that are periodic only in one dimension. The
technique consists of cutting off the long-range part of the interaction by modifying the expression for the
Coulomb operator in reciprocal space. The physical result amounts in an effective screening of the spurious
interactions originated by the presence of ghost periodic replicas of the system. This work extends a previous
report C. A. Rozzi et al., Phys. Rev. B 73, 205119 2006 , where three-dimensional systems were considered.
We show that the use of the cutoffs dramatically enhances the accuracy of the calculations, and it allows
description of two-dimensional systems of reduced periodicity with substantially less computational effort. In
particular, we consider quantum-dot arrays having potential applications in quantum information technology.

Assouad Dimension, Nagata Dimension, and Uniformly Close Metric Tangents
Le Donne, Enrico; Rajala, Tapio (Indiana University, 2015)We study the Assouad dimension and the Nagata dimension of metric spaces. As a general result, we prove that the Nagata dimension of a metric space is always bounded from above by the Assouad dimension. Most of the paper ... -
Nonlinear dynamics and chaos in classical Coulomb-interacting many-body billiards
Solanpää, Janne (2013)Chaos and nonlinear dynamics of single-particle Hamiltonian systems have been extensively studied in the past; however, less is known about interacting many-body systems in this respect even though all physical systems ... -

On deterministic solutions for multi-marginal optimal transport with Coulomb cost
Bindini, Ugo; De Pascale, Luigi; Kausamo, Anna (American Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), 2022)In this paper we study the three-marginal optimal mass transportation problem for the Coulomb cost on the plane R2. The key question is the optimality of the so-called Seidl map, first disproved by Colombo and Stra. We ...
