Radiospektrin ruuhkautuminen on ongelma tulevaisuudessa, ja kognitiiviradiot ovat yksi mahdollisista ratkaisuista ongelmaan. Tutkielmassa käsitellään kognitiiviradioita, kognitiiviradioverkkoja ja spektrin aisintaa sekä niihin liittyviä erilaisia ongelmia ja haasteita.
 
Congestion in the radio spectrum will become a problem in the future, and cognitive radios are one of the possible solutions to it. Cognitive radios, cognitive radio networks, spectrum sensing and both problems and challenges related to them are taken a thorough look at in the thesis.
