In practice we meet problems, when having the solution of partial differential equation, we want to discover parts in the domain of its definition where the solution has some specific properties. In [1] and [2] the problem of identification of a curve φ, lying inside of Ω such that the flux ∫φ∂u∂nds is maximal has been studied, where u is the solution of mixed—boundary value problem for Laplacian operator.

A linear approach for the nonlinear distributed parameter identification problem
Tai, Xue-Cheng; Neittaanmäki, Pekka (Birkhäuser, 1991)In identifying the nonlinear distributed parameters we propose an approach, which enables us to identify the nonlinear distributed parameters by just solving linear problems. In this approach we just need to identify linear ... -
Reading Difficulties Identification : A Comparison of Neural Networks, Linear, and Mixture Models
Psyridou, Maria; Tolvanen, Asko; Patel, Priyanka; Khanolainen, Daria; Lerkkanen, Marja-Kristiina; Poikkeus, Anna-Maija; Torppa, Minna (Taylor & Francis, 2023)Purpose We aim to identify the most accurate model for predicting adolescent (Grade 9) reading difficulties (RD) in reading fluency and reading comprehension using 17 kindergarten-age variables. Three models (neural ... -
Comparison of different solution algorithms for sparse linear equations arising from flowsheeting problems
Kaijaluoto, Sakari; Neittaanmäki, Pekka; Ruhtila, Jouni (Elsevier, 1989)Computational efficiencies of seven different algorithms for the solution of sparse linear equation systems have been compared. The comparison was made both by using randomly generated equation sets and by linking the ... -
The Linearized Calderón Problem on Complex Manifolds
Guillarmou, Colin; Salo, Mikko; Tzou, Leo (Springer, 2019)In this note we show that on any compact subdomain of a K¨ahler manifold that admits sufficiently many global holomorphic functions, the products of harmonic functions form a complete set. This gives a positive answer to ... -
On the a posteriori error analysis for linear Fokker-Planck models in convection-dominated diffusion problems
Matculevich, Svetlana; Wolfmayr, Monika (Elsevier, 2018)This work is aimed at the derivation of reliable and efficient a posteriori error estimates for convection-dominated diffusion problems motivated by a linear Fokker–Planck problem appearing in computational neuroscience. ...
