We consider a free boundary problem modelling the growth/dissolution of a crystal. The aim is to investigate the following question: Does the solution to the crystal growth problem posed in two dimensions with radially symmetric initial and boundary condition evolve as a radially symmetric solution?

Optimal solutions for a free boundary problem for crystal growth
Neittaanmäki, Pekka; Seidman, Thomas I. (Birkhäuser, 1989)We consider a free boundary problem modeling the growth / dissolution of a crystal in a radially symmetric setting. Existence of an optimal boundary control, minimizing a cost functional of a standard "integral-quadratic" ... -
Optimality of Increasing Stability for an Inverse Boundary Value Problem
Kow, Pu-Zhao; Uhlmann, Gunther; Wang, Jenn-Nan (Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics (SIAM), 2021)In this work we study the optimality of increasing stability of the inverse boundary value problem (IBVP) for the Schrödinger equation. The rigorous justification of increasing stability for the IBVP for the Schrödinger ... -
Mappings of finite distortion : boundary extensions in uniform domains
Äkkinen, Tuomo; Guo, Changyu (Springer, 2017)In this paper, we consider mappings on uniform domains with exponentially integrable distortion whose Jacobian determinants are integrable. We show that such mappings can be extended to the boundary and moreover these ... -
Dissolution behavior of co-amorphous amino acid-indomethacin mixtures : The ability of amino acids to stabilize the supersaturated state of indomethacin
Ojaranta, Rami; Heikkinen, Aki T.; Sievänen, Elina; Laitinen, Riikka (Elsevier BV; Arbeitsgemeinschaft fuer Pharmazeutische Verfahrenstechnik e.V., 2017)Arginine, phenylalanine, and tryptophan have been previously shown to improve the solid-state stability of amorphous indomethacin. The present study investigates the ability of these amino acids to prolong the supersaturation ... -
On a topology optimization problem governed by two-dimensional Helmholtz equation
Haslinger, Jaroslav; Mäkinen, Raino (Springer New York LLC, 2015)The paper deals with a class of shape/topology optimization problems governed by the Helmholtz equation in 2D. To guarantee the existence of minimizers, the relaxation is necessary. Two numerical methods for solving ...
