Solving new increasingly complex problems requires development of new methods and tools but verification of their correctness and efficiency in absence of actual experimental data is difficult. In this paper we propose an open database of benchmark cases for multidisciplinary optimization validation that will serve as a reference point for discovery and validation of optimization methods and facilitate adoption of such methods in the industry. The paper describes the goals of the database, the process of acquiring content to the database, its initial content and technical implementation.

High-Level Ab Initio Predictions of Thermochemical Properties of Organosilicon Species : Critical Evaluation of Experimental Data and a Reliable Benchmark Database for Extending Group Additivity Approaches
Vuori, Hannu T.; Rautiainen, J. Mikko; Kolehmainen, Erkki T.; Tuononen, Heikki M. (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2022)A high-level composite quantum chemical method, W1X-1, is used herein to calculate the gas-phase standard enthalpy of formation, entropy, and heat capacity of 159 organosilicon compounds. The results set a new benchmark ... -

One of the most used methods to biomonitor water quality is to sample benthic macroinvertebrate communities, in particular to examine the presence and ... -
Feature-Based Benchmarking of Distance-Based Multi/Many-objective Optimisation Problems : A Machine Learning Perspective
Liefooghe, Arnaud; Verel, Sébastien; Chugh, Tinkle; Fieldsend, Jonathan; Allmendinger, Richard; Miettinen, Kaisa (Springer, 2023)We consider the application of machine learning techniques to gain insights into the effect of problem features on algorithm performance, and to automate the task of algorithm selection for distance-based multi- and ... -
Learning mechanisms in multidisciplinary teamwork with real customers and open-ended problems
Heikkinen, Juho; Isomöttönen, Ville (Taylor & Francis Ltd.; European Society for Engineering Education, 2015)Recently, there has been a trend towards adding a multidisciplinary or multicultural element to traditional monodisciplinary project courses in computing and engineering. In this article, we examine the implications of ... -
