In superconductors spin split by an exchange field, thermal effects are coupled to spin transport. We show how an
oscillating electromagnetic field in such systems creates spin imbalance, that can be detected with a spin-polarized
probe. The sign and magnitude of the probe signal result from a competition between processes converting
field-induced spin energy imbalance to spin imbalance, dominant at low frequencies, and microwave-driven pair
breaking at high frequencies. In the presence of spin-flip scattering, we show that ac excitation also leads to
multistabilities in the superconducting state.

Flux flow spin Hall effect in type-II superconductors with spin-splitting field
Vargunin, Artjom; Silaev, Mikhail (Nature Publishing Group, 2019)We predict the very large spin Hall efect in type-II superconductors whose mechanism is drastically diferent from the previously known ones. We fnd that in the fux-fow regime the spin is transported by the spin-polarized ... -
Colloquium : Nonequilibrium effects in superconductors with a spin-splitting field
Bergeret, F. Sebastian; Silaev, Mikhail; Virtanen, Pauli; Heikkilä, Tero (American Physical Society, 2018)This Colloquium discusses the recent progress in understanding the properties of spin-split superconductors under nonequilibrium conditions. Recent experiments and theories demonstrate a rich variety of transport phenomena ... -
Supercurrent-induced charge-spin conversion in spin-split superconductors
Aikebaier, Faluke; Silaev, Mikhail; Heikkilä, Tero (American Physical Society, 2018)We study spin-polarized quasiparticle transport in a mesoscopic superconductor with a spin-splitting field in the presence of coflowing supercurrent. In such a system, the nonequilibrium state is characterized by ... -
Charge transport through spin-polarized tunnel junction between two spin-split superconductors
Rouco, Mikel; Chakraborty, Subrata; Aikebaier, Faluke; Golovach, Vitaly N.; Strambini, Elia; Moodera, Jagadeesh S.; Giazotto, Francesco; Heikkilä, Tero T.; Bergeret, F. Sebastian (American Physical Society, 2019)We investigate transport properties of junctions between two spin-split superconductors linked by a spin-polarized tunneling barrier. The spin-splitting fields in the superconductors (S) are induced by adjacent ferromagnetic ... -
Current Rectification in Junctions with Spin-Split Superconductors
Ilić, Stefan; Virtanen, Pauli; Heikkilä, Tero T.; Bergeret, F. Sebastián (American Physical Society (APS), 2022)Spin-split superconductors exhibit an electron-hole asymmetric spin-resolved density of states, but the symmetry is restored upon averaging over spin. On the other hand, asymmetry appears again in tunneling junctions of ...
