The recent discovery of a suitable synthesis of the monoanionic ditelluroimidodiphosphinate ligands [TePR2NPR2Te]− (R = Ph, iPr, tBu) has facilitated investigations of the fundamental chemistry of these chelating inorganic ligands. This article is focused on aspects of that chemistry in which the behaviour of this ditelluro PNP ligand differs from that of the well-studied dithio and diseleno congeners. The emphasis is on new tellurium-containing ring systems formed in: (a) redox transformations and (b) the synthesis of metal complexes.

Group 13 complexes of dipyridylmethane, a forgotten ligand in coordination chemistry
Vasko, Petra; Kinnunen, Virva; Moilanen, Jani; Roemmele, Tracey L.; Boeré, René T.; Konu, Jari; Tuononen, Heikki (RSC Publications, 2015)The reactions of dipyridylmethane (dpma) with group 13 trichlorides were investigated in 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 molar ratios using NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. With 1 : 1 stoichiometry and Et2O as solvent, reactions ... -
Influencing the self‐sorting behavior of [2.2]paracyclophane based ligands by introducing isostructural binding motifs
Volbach, Lucia; Struch, Niklas; Bohle, Fabian; Topic, Filip; Schnakenburg, Gregor; Schneider, Andreas; Rissanen, Kari; Grimme, Stefan; Lützen, Arne (Wiley-VCH Verlag, 2020)Two isostructural ligands with either nitrile ( L nit ) or isonitrile ( L iso ) moieties directly connected to a [2.2]paracyclophane backbone with pseudo‐meta substitution pattern have been synthesized. The ligand itself ... -

Chalcogen‐Bonding Interactions in Telluroether Heterocycles [Te(CH2)m]n (n=1-4; m=3-7)
Rodewald, Marko; Rautiainen, J. Mikko; Niksch, Tobias; Görls, Helmar; Oilunkaniemi, Raija; Weigand, Wolfgang; Laitinen, Risto Sakari (Wiley, 2020)The Te…Te secondary bonding interactions (SBI) in solid heterocyclic telluroethers were explored by preparing and structurally characterizing a series of [Te(CH2)m]n (n = 1‐4; m = 3‐7) species. The SBIs in 1,7‐Te2(CH2)10, ... -
Definition of the chalcogen bond (IUPAC Recommendations 2019)
