Tietokoneavusteinen tunneanalyysi : uusi näkökulma merkitykselliseen dialogiin

Abstract

Tutkimuksemme tavoitteena oli tarkastella tietokoneavusteisen tunneanalyysin mahdollisuuksia ja rajoitteita osana “The Relational Mind in Events of Change in Multi-actor Therapeutic Dialog” -tutkimusprojektia. Tunneanalyysissa käytimme Facereader -kasvojentunnistusohjelmistoa, jolla analysoimme nelinkeskisestä terapeuttisesta tilanteesta suoraan kuvattua videomateriaalia. Aiemmin tietokoneavusteista tunneanalyysia on hyödynnetty tutkimusprojektissa vain terapian jälkihaastattelussa. Keskityimme analyysissa terapiaistunnon toiseen asiakkaaseen, sekä erityisesti tämän relationaalisiin hymyhetkiin suhteessa muihin terapiatilanteessa oleviin henkilöihin. Luokittelimme hymyhetket niiden ilmiasun ja merkityksen perusteella, sekä käytimme niitä terapian merkityksellisten hetkien analyysiyksikköinä. Vertailimme Facereader-analysoituja hymyhetkiä niitä ympäröivään dialogiin ja havaitsimme hyvän vastaavuuden näiden välillä. Havaitsemistamme neljästätoista hymyhetkestä Facereader tunnisti yksitoista. Pienillä tutkimusasetelman muunnoksilla analyysitarkkuutta saattaa olla mahdollista parantaa entisestään. Tällöin Facereaderia voitaisiin hyödyntää entistä tehokkaammin sisäisen dialogin tarkasteluun terapeuttisissa tilanteissa.

The goal of our study was to examine the possibilities and limitations of computer-assisted emotion analysis as a part of “The Relation Mind in Events of Change in Multi-actor Therapeutic Dialog” research project. We used Facereader face recognition software to analyze video material that was captured from a quadratic therapeutic situation. Previously in the research project the computer assisted emotion analysis was only applied to interview session that took place after the therapy. In the analysis of therapeutic situation we focused on one of the clients and especially into his smiling episodes in relation to other people present in the therapy. We classified smiling episodes depending on their appearance and function, and used them as an analysis unit of significant moments in the therapy. We compared Facereader analyzed smiling episodes to the surrounding dialog and observed good correspondence between them. From the fourteen smiling episodes detected by human, Facereader also detected eleven. It could be possible to further increase analysis accuracy by altering the research setting. In that case, Facereader could be utilized even more efficiently to observe inner dialog in therapeutic situations.
