Computational modeling of protein diffusion in the cell nucleus using the lattice-Boltzmann method
The number of fluorescence applications and methods of analysis is growing in the biological and related sciences. The aim of this work was to accurately determine the diffusion coefficient in nucleus, diffusion in the cytoplasm and nucleo-cytoplasmic translocation should be considered as well. Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) experiments were used in order to study protein diffusion. A numerical model for FRAP was used to determine the diffusion properties of proteins. The present method removed the difficulties of the conventional analysis, could produce, interesting results for protein diffusion in the cell.

Simulations of fluid flow in porous media by lattice-gas and lattice-Boltzmann methods
Koponen, Antti (1998)Lattice-gas and lattice-Boltzmann methods can provide promising alternative approaches to traditional computational fluid dynamics. The geometric versatility of these methods makes them very attractive for simulating many ... -
Application of the lattice-Boltzmann method for simulating attachment of ink particles in paper
Riikilä, Timo (2012)In this thesis the basic properties of the lattice- Boltzmann method (LBM) are introduced. Also, a particle model used in combination with LBM is presented, and the combined model is then applied to ink propagation in ... -

Investigation of an entropic stabilizer for the lattice-Boltzmann method
Mattila, Keijo; Hegele, Luiz A.; Philippi, Paulo C. (American Physical Society, 2015)The lattice-Boltzmann (LB) method is commonly used for the simulation of fluid flows at the hydrodynamic level of description. Due to its kinetic theory origins, the standard LB schemes carry more degrees of freedom than ...
