Tetrahedral chalcopyrite quantum dots in solar-cell applications
We have considered two different chalcopyrite material combinations suggested for intermediate-band solar cell (IBSC) sample fabrication in Helmholtz Zentrum,
Berlin. We have obtained the maximum theoretical efficiency values of these two chalcopyrite IBSCs. The optimal sizes of the chalcopyrite quantum dots (QDs) in the corresponding QD-IBSC implementations have been calculated. Optical absorption spectrum of a single chalcopyrite QD has been obtained for both systems. The effect of the QD geometry, especially the effect of the roundness of the QD, was examined. We hope that these results will help in the quest towards more efficient and more affordable solar cells.

Thermodynamics of a Phase-Driven Proximity Josephson Junction
Vischi, Francesco; Carrega, Matteo; Braggio, Alessandro; Virtanen, Pauli; Giazotto, Francesco (MDPI, 2019)We study the thermodynamic properties of a superconductor/normal metal/superconductor Josephson junction in the short limit. Owing to the proximity effect, such a junction constitutes a thermodynamic system where phase ... -
Theory of phase-mixing amplification in an optomechanical system
Ockeloen-Korppi, C. F.; Heikkilä, Tero; Sillanpää, M. A.; Massel, Francesco (Institute of Physics Publishing Ltd., 2017)The investigation of the ultimate limits imposed by quantum mechanics on amplification represents an important topic both on a fundamental level and from the perspective of potential applications. We discuss here a novel ... -

Scattering off the color glass condensate
Mäntysaari, Heikki (University of Jyväskylä, 2015)In this thesis the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework, which describes quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at high energy, is applied to various scat- tering processes. Higher order corrections to the CGC evolution ...
