Informaatioteknologian hyödyntäminen muistisairaiden hoidossa

Abstract

Väestö ikääntyy suomessa kovalla vauhdilla. Tämän vuoksi ikääntyneiden keskuudessa yleisenä ongelmana olevat muistisairaudet lisääntyvät. Muistisairaiden hoitaminen kaipaa uusia keinoja, jotta lähitulevaisuudessa lisääntyvään hoidon tarpeeseen kyetään vastaamaan. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli perehtyä muistisairaiden henkilöiden hoitoon liittyviin haasteisiin, sekä siihen, miten näitä haasteita voitaisiin ratkoa informaatioteknologisia ratkaisuja hyödyntämällä. Tutkielmassa perehdyttiin informaatioteknologisten ratkaisujen käytettävyyteen muistisairaiden näkökulmasta, sekä tekijöihin, jotka vaikuttavat ratkaisujen kehitykseen. Tutkielmassa etsittiin erilaisia ratkaisuja, jotka vaikuttavat muistisairaiden hoitoon niin laitoshoidossa kuin myös kotihoidossa. Tutkielmassa pohdittiin myös ratkaisuja, jotka helpottaisivat muistisairaita toimimaan itsenäisesti. Osana tutkimusta oli myös selvittää muistisairaiden hoidon eri vaiheita, sekä näissä vaiheissa mahdollisesti hyödynnettäviä erilaisia informaatioteknologian avulla tuotettuja ratkaisuja.

The population is aging rapidly in Finland. Also, memory disorders which are a common problem among the elderly, are increasing. Treatment of people with memory disorders needs new solutions in order to be able to meet the growing need for treatment in the near future. The purpose of this thesis was to learn about the challenges related to the treatment of people with memory disorders and how these challenges could be solved by utilizing information technology solutions. The thesis delved into usability of information technol-ogy solutions from the perspective of memory patients, as well as the factors that affect the development of solutions. The thesis looked for different solu-tions that affect the treatment of people with memory diseases both in care facilities and in home care. The thesis also considered solutions that would help memory patients to function independently. Part of the research was also to find out the different phases of the care of people with memory diseases, as well as the different solutions produced with the help of information technol-ogy that could possibly be used in these phases.
