We study whether it is possible to use high-p⊥ data/theory to constrain the temperature dependence of the shear viscosity over entropy density ratio η/s of the matter formed in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We use two approaches: (i) We calculate high-p⊥ RAA and flow coefficients v2, v3, and v4 assuming different (η/s)(T ) of the fluid-dynamically evolving medium. (ii) We calculate the quenching strength ( ˆq/T 3) from our dynamical energy loss model and convert it to η/s as a function of temperature. It turned out that the first approach cannot distinguish between different (η/s)(T ) assumptions when the evolution is constrained to reproduce the low-p⊥ data. In distinction, (η/s)(T ) calculated using the second approach agrees surprisingly well with the (η/s)(T ) inferred through state-of-the-art Bayesian analyses of the low-p⊥ data even in the vicinity of Tc, while providing much smaller uncertainties at high temperatures.

Constraining energy loss from high-pt azimuthal asymmetries
Andres, C.; Armesto, N.; Niemi, H.; Paatelainen, R.; Salgado, C. (Sissa Medialab srl, 2019)The nuclear modification factor RAA has been satisfactorily described by various jet quenching models. Nonetheless, all these formalisms, until very recently, underpredicted the high-pT (> 10 GeV) elliptic flow v2. We find ... -
Constraining hadronization mechanisms with Λ+c /D0 production ratios in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
ALICE Collaboration (Elsevier BV, 2023)The production of prompt Λ+c baryons at midrapidity (|y| < 0.5) was measured in central (0–10%) and mid-central (30–50%) Pb–Pb collisions at the center-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon pair √sNN = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE ... -
Open-source QCD analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions at NLO and NNLO
Walt, Marina; Helenius, Ilkka; Vogelsang, Werner (American Physical Society, 2019)We present new sets of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order. Our analyses are based on deeply inelastic scattering data with charged-lepton and neutrino ... -
Unequal rapidity correlators in the dilute limit of the JIMWLK evolution
Lappi, Tuomas; Ramnath, Andrecia (American Physical Society, 2019)We study unequal rapidity correlators in the stochastic Langevin picture of Jalilian-Marian–Iancu–McLerran–Weigert–Leonidov–Kovner (JIMWLK) evolution in the color glass condensate effective field theory. We discuss a ... -
Comparative analysis of muon-capture and 0νββ-decay matrix elements
Jokiniemi, L.; Suhonen, J. (American Physical Society (APS), 2020)Average matrix elements of ordinary muon capture (OMC) to the intermediate nuclei of neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decays of current experimental interest are computed and compared with the corresponding energy and ...
