ERP-integraatioprojektien yleisimmät ongelmat ja niiden hallinta

Abstract

ERP-integraatiot ovat yleistyneet merkittävästi viimeisten vuosien aikana. Yhä useammat yritykset ovat kiinnostuneita integroimaan olemassa olevaan ERP-järjestelmään uusia toiminnallisuuksia. Tämä on kuitenkin erittäin riskialtis sekä aikaa vaativa prosessi, jonka vuoksi useimmat tällaisista projekteista ovat epäonnistuneet. Tämän kandidaatintutkielman tarkoituksena oli tarkastella, minkälaisia ongelmia ERP-integraatioprojektin toteuttamisessa esiintyy sekä kuinka tällaisia ongelmia voitaisiin hallita ja kuinka ERP-integraatioprojektin onnistumisen varmuutta voitaisiin parantaa. Tämä tutkimus toteutettiin systemaattisena kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Tutkimustulosten perusteella pystyttiin huomaamaan, että ERP-integraatioprojektin toteuttamisesta löytyy paljon erilaisia ongelmia, mutta näistä yleisimpiä olivat esimerkiksi huono projektinhallinta sekä ylimmän johdon sitoutumattomuus projektiin. Jo näillä kahdella ongelmalla oli suuri vaikutus siihen, että onnistuuko projekti vai ei. ERP-integraatioprojektin onnistumisen edistämiseen löytyi erilaisia tapoja. Kriittisten menestystekijöiden tunnistaminen ja soveltaminen, oikean järjestelmän valinta organisaation tarpeisiin nähden sekä riskienhallinta projektin aikana olivat merkittäviä tekijöitä projektin onnistumisen kannalta. Vaikka projektin onnistumiseen vaikuttavat tekijät olisi huomioitu projektin aikana, koskaan ei ole täyttä varmuutta projektin onnistumiselle.

ERP integrations have become significantly more common in recent years. More and more companies are interested in integrating new functionalities into the existing ERP system. However, this is a very risky and time-consuming process, which is why most such projects have failed. The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis was to examine what kinds of problems occur in the implementation of an ERP integration project and how such problems could be managed and how the certainty of the success of an ERP integration project could be improved. This study was carried out as a systematic literature review. Based on the research results, it was possible to notice that many different problems can be found in the implementation of the ERP integration project, but the most common of these were, for example, poor project management and senior management’s lack of commitment to the project. Even these two problems had a big impact on whether the project would be successful or not. Different ways were found to promote the success of the ERP integration project. Identifying and applying critical success factors, choosing the right system for the organization’s needs, and risk management during the project were significant factors in terms of the project’s success. Even if the factors influencing the success of the project were taken into account during the project, there is never complete certainty of the project’s success.
