Videota toistavien suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemus mobiililaitteilla

Abstract

Tässä kandidaatintutkielmassa tarkastellaan suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemuksen tekijöitä mobiilikäytössä. Tutkielma on toteutettu kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Suoratoistopalvelut luovat nykypäivänä massiivisilla käyttäjämäärillään suurimman osan kaikesta maailman verkkoliikenteestä. Käyttäjäkokemus puolestaan on tutkimusaiheena tärkeä, sillä sen merkitys suoratoistopalveluiden kehittämiselle ja keskinäiselle kilpailulle on merkittävä. Suoratoistopalveluita käytetään monilla erilaisilla laitteilla ja siksi on tärkeää ymmärtää käyttäjäkokemuksen muodostuminen myös erilaisissa käyttötapauksissa. Suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemuksesta mobiililaitteiden käyttökontekstissa ei ole juurikaan aikaisempaa tutkimusta. Tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää mistä tekijöistä suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemus muodostuu mobiilikäytössä. Tutkielman tutkimuskysymys on: Mistä tekijöistä suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemus muodostuu mobiilikäytössä? Aluksi tutkielmassa perehdytään suoratoistopalveluihin. Tämän jälkeen tutkielmassa tutustutaan käyttäjäkokemuksen määritelmään ja tekijöihin erilaisissa suoratoistopalveluiden mobiilikäytölle olennaisissa konteksteissa. Mobiililaitteiden, mobiilisovellusten, verkkosivustojen, videon suoratoistamisen sekä suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemus ovat tutkielmassa erityisen tarkastelun alla. Tutkielman päätteeksi suoratoistopalveluiden käyttäjäkokemuksen tekijöistä mobiilikäytössä luodaan kaksi uutta viitekehystä. Viitekehykset pohjautuvat tutkielmassa esiteltyyn lähdekirjallisuuteen. Tuloksena esitellyt uudet viitekehykset tarvitsevat lisää tutkimusta todisteeksi niiden oikeellisuudesta.

This bachelor’s thesis examines the factors of user experience for streaming services in mobile use. The thesis has been implemented as a literary review. At the present time, streaming services create the largest portion of internet traffic out of any other category with their massive number of users. User experience, on the other hand, is important itself as it is crucial for the development of streaming services and the competition between streaming services. Streaming services are used on many different devices and therefore it is important to understand the factors of user experience in different use cases. There is little prior research on the user experience of streaming services in the context of mobile devices. The objective of the thesis is to determine what are the factors forming the user expe rience of streaming services in mobile use. The research question of this thesis is: What factors form the user experience of streaming services in mobile use? To begin with, the thesis will familiarize with what streaming services are. The thesis then explores the definitions and factors of user experience in different contexts relevant to mobile use of streaming services. The user experience of mobile de vices, mobile apps, websites, video streaming and streaming services are under special review in the thesis. At the end of the literary review part of the thesis, two new frames of reference, for the factors of user experience on streaming ser vices in mobile use, will be created. The frames of reference are based on the source literature presented in the thesis. The resulting new frames of reference need more research to prove their validity.
