We present an updated global analysis of collinearly factorized nuclear parton distribution functions (PDFs) at next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. In comparison to our previous fit, EPPS16, the present analysis includes more data from proton-lead collisions at the Large Hadron Collider: 5 TeV double-differential CMS dijet and LHCb D-meson data, as well as 8 TeV CMS W± data. These new data lead to significantly better-constrained gluon distributions at small and intermediate values of the momentum fraction x, confirming the presence of shadowing and antishadowing for gluons in large nuclei. In addition, we include Jefferson Lab measurements of deeply inelastic scattering which probe nuclear PDFs at large x and low virtualities. For the first time within the Hessian framework, we now also explore the uncertainties of nuclear PDFs due to the errors in the baseline proton PDFs. We release the results of our analysis as a new public parametrization of nuclear PDFs called EPPS21.

Comparative Analysis of Nuclear Matrix Elements of 0νβ+β+ Decay and Muon Capture in 106Cd
Jokiniemi, Lotta; Suhonen, Jouni; Kotila, Jenni (Frontiers Media SA, 2021)Comparative analyses of the nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) related to the 0νβ+β+ decay of 106Cd to the ground state of 106Pd and the ordinary muon capture (OMC) in 106Cd are performed. This is the first time the OMC NMEs ... -
Spectral shapes of second-forbidden single-transition nonunique β decays assessed using the nuclear shell model
Ramalho, Marlom; Suhonen, Jouni; Neacsu, Andrei; Stoica, Sabin (Frontiers Media, 2024)Experimental and theoretical studies of β electrons (electrons emitted in β−-decaytransitions) and their β-electron spectra have recently experienced a rapid expansion. These β spectral shapes have been used to study total ... -
Analysis of light neutrino exchange and short-range mechanisms in 0νββ decay
Deppisch, Frank F.; Graf, Lukas; Iachello, Francesco; Kotila, Jenni (American Physical Society (APS), 2020)Neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ) is a crucial test for lepton number violation. Observation of this process would have fundamental implications for neutrino physics, theories beyond the Standard Model and cosmology. ... -
First-forbidden transitions in the reactor anomaly
Hayen, L.; Kostensalo, J.; Severijns, N.; Suhonen, J. (American Physical Society, 2019)We describe here microscopic calculations performed on the dominant forbidden transitions in reactor antineutrino spectra above 4 MeV using the nuclear shell model. By taking into account Coulomb corrections in the most ...
