Tämä pro gradu -tutkielma on kolmeen samasta aiheesta ja saman projektin alla kirjoitettuun artikkeliin pohjautuva artikkelimuotoinen tutkielma, niin sanottu artikkeligradu. Projekti toteutettiin Andrei Costinin tutkimuslaboratoriossa Jyväskylän yliopistossa. Tutkielman ja sen taustalla olevien artikkeleiden aiheena on valvontakameroiden perusteella reitittävän navigaattorin kehittäminen, implementointi ja evaluointi. Kehitetty valvontakameroista tietoinen navigaattori löytää joko reitin, jota ei valvo yksikään valvontakamera (yksityisyysmoodi) tai reitin, jonka varrella on mahdollisimman paljon valvontakameroita kuitenkin niin, ettei lasketusta reitistä tule liian pitkä (turvallisuusmoodi). Sovelluksen reitityksestä vastaa olemassa oleva reitityssovellus, Open Source Routing Machine (OSRM), ja tehdyn työn pääkontribuutio keskittyy itse toimivan sovelluksen lisäksi datan prosessointiin niin, että valvontakameradatan perusteella reitittäminen olisi mahdollista. Ensiksi, datan prosessointia vaaditaan sillä nykyinen OpenStreetMap (OSM) -karttadata ei juuri sisällä valvontakameradataa. Toiseksi, datan prosessointia vaaditaan koska OSM-dataformaatti on kehitetty tavallisten reitityskäyttökohteiden tarpeisiin, eikä se sovi sellaisenaan valvontakameratietoiseen reititykseen. Implementoidun sovelluksen toimintaa esitellään sekä synteettisistä testikartoista että oikeista OSM-kartoista otetuin esimerkkikuvankaappauksin.

This Master's Thesis is an article thesis based on three articles on the same subject and from the same project. The project was conducted in Andrei Costin's research lab in the University of Jyväskylä. The topic of the thesis and the articles is developing, implementing and evaluating a close-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance camera -aware router, a navigator. Using the router one can find either a route which is under surveillance of no CCTV surveillance cameras (privacy-mode) or a route along which there are as many CCTV cameras as possible along the route as long as the calculated route is not too long (safety-mode). While the routing application is based on an existing routing solution, Open Source Routing Machine (OSRM), the main contributions are the working routing application and data processing in order to make it possible to route according to CCTV data. First, data processing is needed because CCTV data is not well present in the current OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. Second, data processing is needed because OSM data format is mainly built focusing on traditional types of routing and as such it is not suitable for CCTV-aware routing. The functioning of the implemented application is presented with example screenshots on both synthetic maps designed for testing as well as on actual OSM-based maps.
