The prompt production of the charm baryon Λ+c and the Λ+c/D0 production ratios were measured at midrapidity with the ALICE detector in pp and p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. These new measurements show a clear decrease of the Λ+c/D0 ratio with increasing transverse momentum (pT) in both collision systems in the range 2<12 GeV/c, exhibiting similarities with the light-flavor baryon-to-meson ratios p/π and Λ/K0S. At low pT, predictions that include additional color-reconnection mechanisms beyond the leading-color approximation, assume the existence of additional higher-mass charm-baryon states, or include hadronization via coalescence can describe the data, while predictions driven by charm-quark fragmentation processes measured in e+e− and e−p collisions significantly underestimate the data. The results presented in this Letter provide significant evidence that the established assumption of universality (colliding-system independence) of parton-to-hadron fragmentation is not sufficient to describe charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions at LHC energies.

Studying strangeness and baryon production mechanisms through angular correlations between charged Ξ baryons and identified hadrons in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV
The ALICE collaboration (Springer Nature, 2024)The angular correlations between charged Ξ baryons and associated identified hadrons (pions, kaons, protons, Λ baryons, and Ξ baryons) are measured in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV with the ALICE detector to give insight into ... -
Measurement of the production cross section of prompt Ξ0c baryons at midrapidity in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV
ALICE collaboration (Springer, 2021)The transverse momentum (pT) differential cross section of the charm-strange baryon Ξ0c is measured at midrapidity (|y| < 0.5) via its semileptonic decay into e+Ξ−νe in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector ... -
Measurement of Ω0c baryon production and branching-fraction ratio BR(Ω0c→Ω−e+νe)/BR(Ω0c→Ω−π+) in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV
ALICE collaboration (American Physical Society, 2024)The inclusive production of the charm-strange baryon Ω0c is measured for the first time via its semileptonic decay into Ω−e+νe at midrapidity (|y|<0.8) in proton−proton (pp) collisions at the centre-of-mass energy s√=13 ... -
Multi-strange baryon production at mid-rapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV
ALICE Collaboration (Elsevier BV * North-Holland, 2014)The production of − and − baryons and their anti-particles in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV has been measured using the ALICE detector. The transverse momentum spectra at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) for charged and ... -
Multi-strange baryon production in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
ALICE Collaboration (Elsevier B.V., 2016)The multi-strange baryon yields in Pb–Pb collisions have been shown to exhibit an enhancement relative to pp reactions. In this work, and production rates have been measured with the ALICE experiment as a function of ...
