Using
β
decays of a clean source of
12
N
produced at the IGISOL facility, we have measured the breakup of the
12
C
(12.71 MeV) state into three
α
particles with a segmented particle detector setup. The high quality of the data permits solving the question of the breakup mechanism of the 12.71 MeV state, a longstanding problem in few-body nuclear physics. Among existing models, a modified sequential model fits the data best, but systematic deviations indicate that a three-body description is needed.

Among these, the ... -
Muon-electron lepton-flavor-violating transitions : Shell-model calculations of transitions in 27Al
Kostensalo, Joel; Suhonen, Jouni; Civitarese, O. (American Physical Society, 2018)In this paper we present the results of large-scale shell-model calculations of muon-to-electron lepton-flavorviolating transitions for the case of the target nucleus 27Al. We extend the previous shell-model calculations, done ... -
Analysis of light neutrino exchange and short-range mechanisms in 0νββ decay
Deppisch, Frank F.; Graf, Lukas; Iachello, Francesco; Kotila, Jenni (American Physical Society (APS), 2020)Neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ) is a crucial test for lepton number violation. Observation of this process would have fundamental implications for neutrino physics, theories beyond the Standard Model and cosmology. ... -

So far, only 25P2n values have been determined for the ≈300 nuclei ... -
Rare beta decays and the spectrum-shape method
Haaranen, Mikko (University of Jyväskylä, 2017)This is a thesis consisting of seven publications and an introductory part on theoretical studies on rare single beta decays. Firstly, the theoretical framework is applied to the computation of partial half-lives for ...
