We prove that Kleinian groups whose limit sets are Cantor sets of Hausdorff dimension < 1 are free. On the other hand we construct for any ε > 0 an example of a non-free purely hyperbolic Kleinian group whose limit set is a Cantor set of Hausdorff dimension < 1 + ε.

Modeling the mechanical behavior of carbon nanostructures
Korhonen, Topi (University of Jyväskylä, 2016)Low-dimensional nanostructures are expected to have vast number of applications in the future. Particularly large amount of research has been invested in the atomthick carbon membrane called graphene, which has become ... -
The N-dimensional N-person chesslike game strategy analysis model
Kyppö, Jorma (University of Jyväskylä, 2016)In this research a mathematical, symmetric n-player game model, based on chess is designed. Symmetry in this context refers to players' positions with respect to each other. While the order of move naturally violates ... -
Chedar: Peer-to-Peer Middleware
Auvinen, Annemari; Vapa, Mikko; Weber, Matthieu; Kotilainen, Niko; Vuori, Jarkko (2006)In this paper we present a new peer-to-peer (P2P) middleware called CHEap Distributed ARchitecture (Chedar). Chedar is totally decentralized and can be used as a basis for P2P applications. Chedar tries to continuously ... -
Controlled diffeomorphic extension of homeomorphisms
Koskela, Pekka; Wang, Zhuang; Xu, Haiqing (Pergamon Press, 2018)Let Ω be an internal chord-arc Jordan domain and φ:S→∂Ω be a homeomorphism. We show that φ has finite dyadic energy if and only if φ has a diffeomorphic extension h:D→Ω which has finite energy.
