The structure of the nuclei of the heaviest elements is discussed
with emphasis on single-particle properties as determined by decay and inbeam
spectroscopy. The basic features of production of these nuclei using
fusion evaporation reactions will also be discussed.

(EDP Sciences, 2016)Superheavy nuclei exist solely due to quantum shell effects, which create a pocket in the potential-energy surface of the nucleus, thus providing a barrier against spontaneous fission. Determining the height of the ... -
Properties of nuclei in the nobelium region studied within the covariant, Skyrme, and Gogny energy density functionals
Dobaczewski, Jacek; Afanasjev, A. V.; Bender, M.; Robledo, L. M.; Shi, Yue (Elsevier BV, 2015)We calculate properties of the ground and excited states of nuclei in the nobelium region for proton and neutron numbers of 92≤Z≤104 and 144≤N≤156, respectively. We use three different energy-density-functional (EDF) ... -
