Quantum effects in one-dimensional optical flat-band lattices
I numerically simulated one-dimensional lattice systems describable by the
Hubbard-model and containing a flat-band. I studied the manner in which
particles initially held in place by a parabolic confinement potential are dispersed across the lattice after the potential is removed. I also studied currents flowing within one-dimensional Hubbard-rings. In both of these cases I observed that the flat dispersion relation of the flat-band manifests itself as the immobility of the particles occupying it. Particles occupying flat-band states
do not disperse even after the removal of any external confinement, neither
do they contribute to a current within a ring.

Many-particle dynamics of bosons and fermions in quasi-one-dimensional flat-band lattices
Hyrkäs, Markku; Apaja, Vesa; Manninen, Matti (American Physical Society, 2013)The difference between boson and fermion dynamics in quasi-one-dimensional lattices is studied by calculating the persistent current in small quantum rings and by exact simulations of the time evolution of the ... -
Quantum Simulations of One-Dimensional Nanostructures under Arbitrary Deformations
Koskinen, Pekka (American Physical Society, 2016)A powerful technique is introduced for simulating mechanical and electromechanical properties of one-dimensional nanostructures under arbitrary combinations of bending, twisting, and stretching. The technique is based ... -
Influence of dissipative tunneling on the photodielectric effect associated with the excitation of impurity complexes A+ + e in a quasi-zero-dimensional structure
Krevchik, V. D.; Razumov, A. V.; Semenov, M. B.; Levashov, A. V.; Shorokhov, A. V. (ITMO University, 2022)Effect of tunneling decay for the quasi-stationary A+-state, in an impurity complex A+ + e (a hole, localized on a neutral acceptor, interacting with an electron, localized in the ground state of a quantum dot) on the ... -
Interacting Electrons in a Flat‐Band System within the Generalized Kadanoff–Baym Ansatz
Cosco, Francesco; Tuovinen, Riku; Lo Gullo, Nicolino (Wiley-VCH Verlag, 2024)In this work, the study of the spectral properties of an open interacting system by solving the generalized Kadanoff-Baym ansatz (GKBA) master equation for the single-particle density matrix, namely the time-diagonal lesser ... -
One-dimensional charged kaon femtoscopy in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
ALICE Collaboration (American Physical Society, 2019)The correlations of identical charged kaons were measured in p-Pb collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The femtoscopic invariant radii and correlation strengths were extracted from one-dimensional ...
