Investigating urban household poverty : the case of Liberia

Poverty research is not a new paradigm even in an impoverished country such as Liberia, but through
appropriate poverty research living conditions of a given population can be fully examined and
comprehensively understood. It is from this perspective this study aims to investigate urban household
poverty in specific Monrovia communities to illuminate on some of the primary causes of the recent
rapidly emerging household poverty. The study intends to provide new information on the living
condition of the poor households in the three choosing communities for this research and present a new
approaches on how to confront the principal contributors to the declining living standards of these
communities.
