The purpose of collecting the EEG material was to investigate the relationship between CA (showing) and RT (telling) from the point of view of brain-based cognitive processing of meaning in Finnish Sign Language. The EEG material consist of a numerical matrix of time vs. amplitude of brain electrical responses for each participant at each electrode (64-electrode EEG cap, ActiCAP 32, Easycap GmbH, Herrsching, Germany). Data were collected in the EEG laboratory of the Department of Psychology, JYU from May 2022 to May 2023. Brain responses were collected using the Bittium NeurOne Tesla EEG system (Bittium Corporation, Oulu, Finland) as 35 participants performed three tasks. Data were stored in .edf format.

The Contribution of Event-Related Potentials to the Understanding of Sign Language Processing and Production in the Brain : Experimental Evidence and Future Directions
Hernández, Doris; Puupponen, Anna; Jantunen, Tommi (Frontiers Media SA, 2022)Functional neuroimaging allows investigation of the timing properties of the brain mechanisms underlying covert language processing. This paper presents a review of the use of the neuroimaging technique called Event-Related ... -

Cross-modal iconicity and indexicality in the production of lexical sensory and emotional signs in Finnish Sign Language
Keränen, Jarkko (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2023)In the present study, cross-modal (i.e., across sensory modalities such as smell and sound) iconicity (i.e., resemblance) and indexicality (i.e., contiguity) in lexical sensory and emotional signs in Finnish Sign Language ... -
