Palvelinkeskusten hiilijalanjälki on TVT-sektorin nopeimmin kasvava niiden suuren energiankulutuksen vuoksi. Palvelinkeskusten aiheuttamien negatiivisten ympäristövaikutusten hillitsemiseksi tarvitaan nopeita, radikaaleja tekoja. Tässä tutkielmassa käydään läpi hedelmällisimpiä keinoja palvelinkeskusten energiankulutuksen minimointiin hiilijalanjäljen pienentämisen näkökulmasta. Lisäksi sivutaan lyhyesti muita keinoja pienentää palvelinkeskusten aiheuttamaa ympäristökuormitusta.
 
Data centres' carbon footprint is growing fast due to their constantly increasing energy consumption. The purpose of this thesis is to look into different, promising energy consumption and carbon footprint minimization methods that can curb the impact data centres have on the climate change.
