This study was made of factors affecting the transition paths between ammonium nitrate solid state phases IV, III and II. The effect of the sample preparation method was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transition mechanisms were explored with simultaneous DSC and Raman spectrometry developed for in situ investigation of the transitions, and the relationship between phase IV structure and the transition paths was studies by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and DSC. The results were analysed by partial least-squares regression (PLS) and principal component analysis (PCA). [Continues; please see the book]

5-Carbonyl-1,3-oxazine-2,4-diones from N-Cyanosulfoximines and Meldrum’s Acid Derivatives
Brosge, Felix; Kochs, Johanne,s Florian; Bregu, Mariela; Truong, Khai-Nghi; Rissanen, Kari; Bolm, Carsten (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2020)At elevated temperatures, N-cyanosulfoximines react with Meldrum’s acid derivatives to give sulfoximines with N-bound 5-carbonyl-1,3-oxazine-2,4-dione groups. A representative product was characterized by single-crystal ... -
Conformationally Locked Pyramidality Explains the Diastereoselectivity in the Methylation of trans-Fused Butyrolactones
Csókás, Dániel; Siitonen, Juha H.; Pihko, Petri M.; Pápai, Imre (American Chemical Society, 2020)A stereoselectivity model inspired by the total synthesis of stemona alkaloids is developed to explain why enolate-derived 3,4-fused butyrolactones are methylated with a preference for syn alkylation. The model shows how ... -

Screening of microalgae and LED grow light spectra for effective removal of dissolved nutrients from cold-water recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) wastewater
Stevčić, Čedomir; Pulkkinen, Katja; Pirhonen, Juhani (Elsevier BV, 2019)Popularity of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) is increasing. Because of the high water recirculation rate, dissolved nutrients originating from fish feed are concentrated enough in RAS wastewater (WW) to enable ... -
Behaviour of sediment-associated silver nanoparticles and their toxicity to Lumbriculus variegatus
Rajala, Juho (University of Jyväskylä, 2017)The increasing use of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in industry and consumer products results in the increasing environmental concentrations of AgNPs. In the aquatic environment, sediment is the major sink for the AgNPs. ...
