Pilvipalveluiden käyttö pienissä ja keskisuurissa yrityksissä

Abstract

Pk-yritykset rakentavat koko yritysmaailman keskiön ja ovat suurin työllistäjä. Pk-yritysten on kuitenkin huomattavasti vaikeampaa hankia resursseja kuin suurten yritysten, ja siksi pilvipalvelut tarjoavat niille ennen saavuttamattomia ICT-teknologian mahdollisuuksia. Tässä kandidaatintutkielmassa tarkastellaan pilvipalveluiden tarjoamia hyötyjä pienten ja keskisuurten yritysten liiketoiminnalle. Erityisesti tutkitaan sitä, millä tavalla pilvipalvelut hyödyttävät pkyritysten liiketoimintaa. Hyötyjen lisäksi selvitetään pilvipalveluiden käytöstä nousevia ongelmia pk-yrityksen liiketoiminnalle. Lisäksi tutkielmassa selvitetään pilvipalveluiden käyttöä sekä yleensä että erityisesti pk-yritysten keskuudessa. Myös pyritään selvittämän mitkä ovat merkittävimmät esteet pilvipalveluiden laajenemiselle. Suurimmiksi hyödyiksi pk-yrityksille nousevat kustannussäästöt, ja mahdollisuus päästä käsiksi samankaltaisiin ohjelmistoihin kuin suuret yritykset. Suurimpia ongelmia pilvipalveluista pk-yrityksille ovat tietoturva, luotettavuus sekä heikko yhteentoimivuus eri järjestelmien kesken. Eniten pilvipalveluita käyttävät suuret informaatioteknologiaan sekä viestintään erikoistuneet yritykset. Eniten pk-yritysten pilvipalveluiden käyttöä rajoittaa se, että yritysjohto ei tunne riittävästi pilvipalveluita ja niiden tarjoamia mahdollisuuksia. Tutkimus on toteutettu kirjallisuuskatsauksena.

This bachelor’s thesis aims to study the benefits and risks which arise from the usage of cloud services for the small and medium sized businesses. Cloud services are currently an extremely relevant topic. Cloud services have revolutionized the information technology business, and also the economy as a whole. Cloud services provide many benefits to its user, for example savings, flexibility on resource usage, scalability and also it has made many new innovations possible. Particularly this thesis studies the subject from the perspective of the small and medium sized businesses. Small and medium sized businesses are concrete of the whole enterprise-world. Still, SMB’s have very different possibilities to attract resources like money. Also in this thesis, a study of the usage of cloud services in generally, and also in the perspective of the SMB’s, has been made. Also studies about the main reasons which are limiting the usage of the cloud services, has been involved in this thesis. Results tell, that the biggest benefits for the SMB’s from the usage of the cloud services are the savings, and also the opportunity to use same kind of tools and software which the big enterprises are using. Biggest risk for SMB’ are security, downtime and the low level of interoperability between different systems. Big information technology and communication enterprises are biggest group which are using the cloud services currently. The biggest factor that limits the SMB’s usage of cloud services is the low level of knowledge.
