Sateenkaariperheiden kokemuksia päivähoidon kanssa tehtävästä yhteistyöstä

Abstract

Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kertoa sateenkaariperheiden ja päivähoidon yhteistyöstä sateenkaarivanhemman näkökulmasta. Keskityimme tutkimuksessamme kolmeen teemaan: päivähoidon aloitukseen, yhteistyöhön päivähoidossa ja sateenkaarivanhempien kasvattajille antamiin vinkkeihin. Tutkimukseemme osallistui yhteensä 4 sateenkaariperhettä, joista 7 vanhempaa osallistui teemahaastatteluina toteutettuihin haastatteluihin. Tutkimukseen osallistuneet perheet asuivat Jyväskylässä ja Oulussa ja olivat kaikki naisparien ja lapsen/lapsien muodostamia perheitä. Tutkimus toteuteettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena ja käytimme aineistolähtöistä sisällönanalyysiä aineistomme analysoinnissa. Tutkimuksen tuloksina vanhemmat olivat pääsääntöisesti tyytyväisiä päivähoidon kanssa toteutettuun yhteistyöhön ja kokivat saaneensa positiivisen vastaanoton päivähoidossa. Vanhemmat kuitenkin toivoivat enemmän sateenkaariperheiden yksilöllistä huomiointia ja parannusta kodin sekä päivähoidon väliseen tiedonkulkuun. Vinkeiksi sateenkaariperheitä kohtaaville varhaiskasvattajille vanhemmat antoivat avoimuuden sekä kyselevän asenteen. Vanhemmat toivoivat varhaiskasvattajilta tietotaitoa kohdata erilaisia perheitä ja myös teeman sisällyttämistä päivähoitoon suuntaaviin koulutuksiin. Lasten kanssa toivottiin käsiteltävän erilaisia perheitä osana kasvatusta.

The purpose of this dissertation is to discuss the cooperation between gay families and day care, from the gay parents’ point of view. We focused our study on three themes: starting day care, cooperation with day care and advice that gay parents’ gave for early childhood workers. The research involved a total of 4 gay families, of which 7 parents attended the interviews that we operated as theme interviews. The participant families lived in Jyväskylä and Oulu, and all consist of two females and their child/children. The dissertation was made by using qualitative research methods and we analysed our data using inductive content analysis. The results show that the parents were generally satisfied with the cooperation with day care, and felt that they have had received a positive reception at day care. However, the parents expressed a desire that gay families should get treated more individually and improve the flow of information between home and day care. The recommendations that the parents gave to early childhood workers who work with gay families were to be open and to have a questioning attitude. The parents requested that early childhood workers should have knowledge and skills to meet with different kind of families and this theme to be included in the education that prepares people to work at day care. They also advocated discussion about different families to be included in the education.
