Mobile Technology and Business (Major in Information Systems Science), Master's Thesis Supervisor: Luoma, Eetu This study finds the impacts of the Internet channels on mobile operators’ business models with Ireland as a case. It reflects on the business model concepts, business models of mobile telecom industry and specifically Irish mobile operators; and evaluates and highlights the impacts of the internet channels used by the operators. This study uses exploratory case study as a methodology and qualitative method as an approach. It utilises literature review, industry reports, companies' documents, observation, and interview as data gathering techniques. The study provides answers to the statement of research problems. The problems addressed are the channels used by the Irish mobile operators as constituents of their business models; the preferred internet channels and their reasons; and the impact of internet channels on the business models of Irish mobile operators. Mobile service providers can use the findings to choose options that enhance their customer value through the use of the Internet channels. It is a valuable resource to service providers and researchers in Ireland and beyond. It also offers recommendations for future development and re-innovation of internet channels. ...
