We contribute transcriptomic data for two species of Ostracoda, an early-diverged group of small-sized pancrustaceans. Data include new reference transcriptomes for two asexual non-marine species (Dolerocypris sinensis and Heterocypris aff. salina), as well as single-specimen transcriptomic data that served to analyse gene expression across four developmental stages in D. sinensis. Data are evaluated by computing gene expression profiles of the different developmental stages which consistently placed eggs and small larvae (at the stage of instar A-8) similar to each other, and apart from adults which were distinct from all other developmental stages but closest to large larvae (instar A-4). We further evaluated the transcriptomic data with two newly sequenced low-coverage genomes of the target species. The new data thus document the feasibility of obtaining reliable transcriptomic data from single specimens – even eggs – of these small metazoans.

UNCLES: Method for the identification of genes differentially consistently co-expressed in a specific subset of datasets
Abu-Jamous, Basel; Fa, Rui; Roberts, David J.; Nandi, Asoke (BioMed Central Ltd., 2015)Background: Collective analysis of the increasingly emerging gene expression datasets are required. The recently proposed binarisation of consensus partition matrices (Bi-CoPaM) method can combine clustering results ... -
Effect of primary dietary sources and environmental variables on the condition of freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) populations
Nykänen, Sabrina (2021)Earlier studies have suggested effect of land use on freshwater pearl mussel (FPM) via the detrimental impact of siltation on juvenile mussels, but little is known about its effects through the changes in food quality. ... -

The role of salmonid fishes in conservation of the endangered freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera)
Salonen, Jouni (University of Jyväskylä, 2016)The abundance of freshwater pearl mussels (Margaritifera margaritifera) has declined widely during the past century, and new conservation initiatives are needed. This thesis focused on the relationship between M. ... -
