The purpose of this research project is to gain more understanding on the lives of the Bosnian diaspora in Finland. An important aspect is to see if the Bosnian diaspora maintains some kind of communication and/or network with the homeland as well as diaspora networks in other countries. Due to the complexities of diaspora networks across nations and societies, theoretical frameworks such as soft power, transnationalism, trans-localism, and imagined communities are utilised to help better grasp the vastness of the evolving situation. The data collected included transcribed open discussion interviews as well as answers to a questionnaire. The results indicate that, first, there is frequent communication with Bosnian communities in Fin- land as well as in Europe and the United States of America. Second, attempts are actively being made to try to maintain links to Bosnian heritage while adapting to Finnish ways of life. Third, despite the Bosnian diaspora in Finland having frequent contact with the homeland, they experienced instances of feeling unwelcomed by Bosnians currently residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The results are significant, for example, for policy makers, organisations, and historians in Finland as well as abroad to understand and better prepare for any collaborations with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The complex history of the Balkan region still impacts the mindset and interactions of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina today. With the information presented, people can use the uncovered information for future use.en
