This article introduces a sociocognitive and distributed view on second/foreign language learning. Drawing on theorizing within sociocultural, dialogical and distributed views, it is argued that cognition is not located inside an individual but is distributed across the agent–environment -activity. Similarly, to replace the mainstream notions of language, a distinction between first-order languaging (or, interactivity) and second-order language is introduced.
