Psykobiososiaaliset tilat ja core-komponentit kamppailu-urheilussa : tapaustutkimus: Brasilialainen Jujutsu
Abstract
Tässä pro-gradu tutkimuksessa tutkitaan brasilialaisessa jujutsussa kisaavien henkilöiden
tunnetiloja ennen kilpailusuorituksia. Tunnetilojen vaikutus urheilussa suoriutumiseen on
This master's thesis examines the feeling states of individuals competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu prior to their performance in competitions. The impact of feeling states on athletic performance has been acknowledged, but previous research has generally focused on one or a few key emotions. The purpose of this study is to investigate feeling states by considering the entire psychobiosocial spectrum of emotions. The study also examines the relationship between feeling states and perceived performance. Additionally, the study investigates whether focusing on the core components has an impact on perceived performance in combat sports. The theoretical framework of this thesis heavily relies on the MuSt theory, which encompasses the theories of psychobiosocial states (IZOF theory), and core components (MAP model) presented more broadly in the thesis. The research itself was conducted using survey questionnaires administered to ten Finnish national or international elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes. The participants completed the PBS-S questionnaire through the Webropol application, and their core components were identified through discussions conducted via Zoom. The acquired data was analyzed using the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, the Wilcoxon test, and the Mann-Whitney U test. The study found that the most common emotions experienced by the participants prior to their competition performances were fighting spirit, coordinated, tense, physically-charged, focused, purposeful, motivated, overloaded, uninterested, worried and undetermined. However, there were individual differences in the intensities of these emotions. The study also revealed that the distance of dysfunctional emotions from peak performance was associated with perceived performance. There was no statistically significant correlation found between the distance from beneficial emotions or the overall psychobiosocial state of peak performance. The participants were also able to identify core components in their performances. However, the statistical analysis did not provide evidence for the impact of core components on performance, as there were not enough instances where the thinking related to core components could be beneficial.
