Keskiasteen ammatillisten oppilaitosten yleisjakson äidinkielen opetussuunnitelman toteuttamiskelpoisuus yleisten ammattikoulujen opettajien arvioimana = First-year mother tongue curriculum in secondary-level vocational schools and its feasibility as rated by teachers of general vocational schools
Abstract
The importance and attainability of the curriculum aims and pupils' starting level was rated by 708 teachers. Teachers' ratings were fairly unanimous and corresponded largely with the curriculum constructors' ideas about the importance of aims. However, the factor analysis revealed certain trends of disagreement among teachers, the clearest being the difference of opinion about literature teaching, which appeared in all the teacher groups. Different teacher groups had similar opinions about the order of importance of the aims. Importance ratings were also explained through the features of the aims. Teachers valued demanding aims more highly than simple aims. The ratings of attainability and starting level showed that the attainment of certain relevant aims demands a great deal of effort. The results thus represent a great challenge to the development of teaching.
