Data and code for the Fouilloux et al. (2023) study: Visual environment of rearing sites affects larval response to perceived risk. The study examined the effect of nursery turbidity on the (visual) perception of risk for tadpoles that develop in epehemeral pools of water (phytotelmata).
Attached to the data is a Data Description PDF file, which includes the definition of the two data sheets (LAS_VISION_OCT2022 and FG_TURB_JAN2023) and the methods required to collect these data. The R code that goes along with these data is also provided. The full work is cited and contextualized in the Journal of Experimental Biology.

Visible implant elastomer (VIE) success in early larval stages of a tropical amphibian species
Fouilloux, Chloe A.; Garcia-Costoya, Guillermo; Rojas, Bibiana (PeerJ, 2020)Animals are often difficult to distinguish at an individual level, and being able to identify individuals can be crucial in ecological or behavioral studies. In response to this challenge, biologists have developed a range ... -
A Review of Occlusion as a Tool to Assess Attentional Demand in Driving
Kujala, Tuomo; Kircher, Katja; Ahlström, Christer (SAGE Publications, 2023)Objective: The aim of this review is to identify how visual occlusion contributes to our understanding of attentional demand and spare visual capacity in driving and the strengths and limitations of the method. Background: ... -
Responses to ultraviolet radiation in larval pike, Esox lucius, of two origins and ages
Vehniäinen, Eeva-Riikka; Häkkinen, Jani; Oikari, Aimo (2007)Ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-induced mortality and behavioural disorder were studied in larval northern pike of two origins and ages. Newly hatched larvae of two differently coloured populations and six-day-old larvae of ... -
Predator response to the coloured eyespots and defensive posture of Colombian four‐eyed frogs
Hernández‐Palma, Tatiana L.; Rueda‐Solano, Luis Alberto; Valkonen, Janne K.; Rojas, Bibiana (Wiley, 2023)Deimatic displays, where sudden changes in prey appearance elicit aversive predator reactions, have been suggested to occur in many taxa. These (often only putative) displays frequently involve different components that ... -
Cohort comparison of vision and hearing in 75- and 80-year-old men and women born 28 years apart
Välimaa, Maija; Koivunen, Kaisa; Viljanen, Anne; Rantanen, Taina; von Bonsdorff, Mikaela (Elsevier, 2025)Purpose We compared the vision and hearing of older men and women born 28 years apart. In addition, we explored factors explaining the possible cohort differences. Methods Two independent cohorts of 75- and 80-year-old ...
