Oppimisen resurssina heikko kirjoittamisen taito

Abstract
In this case study, we investigate Finnish as a L2 writing skill of weak writers in lower secondary school. The study is based on writing performances of 25 students who each completed four different writing tasks (i.e., 100 texts) and questionnaire about background information, self-assessment of writing and literacy practices. First, we discuss writing profciency of the target language in general and in school context from curriculum and pedagogical point of view. Then we present results of questionnaire data and focus on performances of two writers with A1 writing profciency. The findings show that the students with low writing profiency do write also in their free time different printed and media texts. Additionally, despite of weak profciency level the students are able to produce texts and make meanings syntactically and textually at some point. Finally, we discuss some implications concerning migrants and literal-oriented culture in Finnish schools.
