Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää miten Donald Trump puhui erilaisista etnisistä vähemmistöistä Twitter-tilillään ennen presidenttiyttään (2013-2016) ja sen aikana (2017-2021). Erityisesti kiinnostuksen kohteena on se, millä tavoilla hän tuo esille omia mielipiteitään. Työn tutkimuskysymykset ovat, millaisia kielellisiä valintoja hän tekee puhuessaan tietyistä etnisistä ryhmistä ja onko hänellä jokin vakiintunut tapa käyttää kieltä puhuessaan näistä ryhmistä. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin Twitter-arkistoista ja Google-kuvahaun kautta. Aineisto koostuu 12 tviitistä ennen hänen presidenttikauttaan, ja 23 tviitistä hänen presidenttikautensa ajalta.
Tviitit analysoitiin hyödyntämälla kriittistä diskurssianalyysia.
